Hinterland Systems association
The Hinterland Systems association, registered in Austria's Central Register of Associations as "Hinterland Systems – Verein zur Förderung von regenerativen Regionalsystemen," serves as a neutral, nonprofit governance entity committed to establishing a data network for land users in line with the EU Data Governance Act.
Cities and municipalities are closely interconnected with their hinterlands, primarily through regional food systems, resource utilization, biomass flows, and the conservation of ecosystems that support food and biomass production. Additionally, a complex biodiversity system—which includes natural carbon cycles and water systems—needs protection and further development. These elements collectively define the thematic framework of Hinterland Systems, which aims to strengthen and shape them through systemic data innovation.
